Copilot visibility tracking
Copilot is already open on your buyer's screen.
Pineprompt runs your real buyer prompts against Microsoft Copilot daily, scoped to your country and language, then records every mention, every Bing-grounded source, and every competitor that Copilot named instead of you.
Why Copilot matters
Copilot is the AI your enterprise buyer never had to download.
Copilot is embedded across Bing, Windows, Edge, and Microsoft 365. For a buyer in IT, operations, finance, or HR, Copilot is already open in the Edge sidebar, in the Windows taskbar, and inside the Word document they were drafting. They reach for it without ever opening a separate chat interface, which is why a real share of B2B vendor research now starts here. Copilot also names fewer brands per answer than the consumer engines, so a mention is harder to win and more meaningful when you do.

What's scored
What every Copilot answer is scored on.
Three numbers tell you where you stand. Visibility tells you whether Copilot names you at all, position tells you whether it names you ahead of the competition, and sentiment tells you whether the framing is on your side. Copilot answers name two or three brands rather than five or six, so each slot is worth more.
Visibility
The percentage of Copilot answers that name your brand across your tracked prompts. Copilot's terser answers make this number harder to win than on consumer engines, and more valuable when you do.
Named by Copilot
Across 142 tracked prompts this week.
Position in the answer
Position correlates with click-through, and Copilot's citation panel sits beside the named brands. Pineprompt logs the order each brand appears in, every answer, every day.
Sentiment tone
Copilot's tone is more buttoned-up than ChatGPT's, so subtle negative framing slips past a casual read. Every mention is scored for tone and bucketed into a band.
How Copilot picks its answer
The two layers Copilot draws on.
Copilot blends model-level knowledge with live grounding against Bing's index. For factual or current-information queries, the grounding layer dominates, which is why Bing Webmaster Tools, structured data, and a submitted sitemap have become marketing concerns again. Pineprompt makes both layers visible, so you see which one is working in your favor and which one is not.
The model layer
Brands that appear in many authoritative places, such as review sites, Wikipedia, news, and category comparisons, are baked into the underlying model. Pineprompt's mention-rate trend tracks that baked-in coverage answer by answer.
The Bing-grounded web layer
When Copilot reaches for the web, it queries Bing. Pineprompt logs every cited URL alongside the answer, so you see which publishers, reviews, and documentation pages keep winning Copilot's citation panel. See citation tracking .

Every cited URL is fetched from Bing, so a site that is poorly indexed on Bing is poorly cited by Copilot.
Slice it the way buyers ask
One Copilot answer is not a metric.
Copilot answers shift by prompt, by country, and by who the buyer is comparing you with. Pineprompt slices the same data along each axis, so you find the segment where your visibility actually breaks.
By country and language
Copilot's Bing-grounded answers shift by locale, often more sharply than the consumer engines. Every Pineprompt monitor is scoped to a specific country and language.
By competitor share
Every answer is scored against your registered competitors. New brands Copilot names that you have not registered surface as candidates for competitor discovery .
By buyer prompt
The same brand dominates one prompt and disappears from the next. Every prompt is tracked on its own, so you find the questions you are losing. See prompt tracking .

Failure modes
Two Copilot visibility failure modes.
Copilot's reliance on Bing's index produces failure modes that ChatGPT and Claude do not show. A site that is poorly indexed on Bing has nothing for Copilot to cite, and a site that Bing has not recently recrawled is described to buyers in last quarter's words. Each one shows up differently in the data, and each has a different fix.
Not indexed by Bing
Copilot only cites pages Bing has indexed. If your site is unverified in Bing Webmaster Tools or your sitemap has not been submitted, Copilot has nothing to ground on and reaches for whichever competitor is well indexed instead. Fix: verify the site, submit a sitemap, and earn placements on pages Bing already trusts.
Bing Webmaster Tools
Pineprompt does not need access to your Bing account. The signal comes from Copilot's citation log.
Cited with a stale snippet
Bing's index lags reality by weeks or months on smaller sites. Copilot then describes you with last quarter's positioning, even when your homepage has moved on. Trace the snippet via citation tracking , then prompt Bing to recrawl the page.

Microsoft Copilot visibility tracker FAQ
What people ask before they start tracking Copilot visibility. For how visibility is scored, see the methodology .
- Does Pineprompt test the same Copilot a user sees?
- Yes. Pineprompt captures production consumer Copilot answers with web grounding enabled. Enterprise Copilot answers vary per-tenant, but the model family and grounding logic are the same, so the ranking signal translates closely.
- How is Copilot different from Bing Chat?
- Bing Chat was renamed to Copilot. It is the same surface with ongoing improvements.
- How often is each prompt refreshed?
- Daily, on every plan. AI answers are stochastic, so daily density surfaces drift without noise. See our methodology.
- Can I track Copilot answers by country and language?
- Yes. Every monitor is scoped to a country and language. Copilot's Bing-grounded answers shift meaningfully by locale.
- Does Copilot always cite sources?
- For factual or current-information queries, typically yes. Conversational or open-ended prompts may return answers without citations. Pineprompt captures both.
- What is the difference between Copilot and Google AI Overview visibility?
- Different surfaces with different ranking behavior. Pineprompt tracks both. See Google AI Overview tracking.
