Your slice of the AI conversation.
Every AI answer names a handful of brands. Pineprompt counts every one across each tracked prompt and gives you a single number: the percentage of those mentions that are you. Segmented by engine, country, and prompt, refreshed daily.
The metric
One number for your slice of the answer.
For every tracked prompt run, Pineprompt counts every brand the AI names. Share of voice is your slice of that total: the percentage of every brand mention across the tracked answers that is you, not somebody else.
One number, every tracked brand
Each tracked brand gets a percentage. The percentages across all tracked brands sum to 100, so the picture stays honest as the category shifts.
Every mention counts
An answer that names you three times contributes three mentions. A rival named once contributes one. Wordy answers and short answers both pull their honest weight.
"For short stays, Airbnb typically has the widest selection. Compared with Vrbo and Booking.com, Airbnb is the more flexible option, while Airbnb leans into unique stays."
Trended daily
Every monitor refreshes daily. Share of voice is recomputed on every run, so you watch a moving curve rather than a snapshot.
This week
Airbnb's share of voice in the short-stay category, refreshed every 24 hours.
Side by side
Share of voice is not visibility.
They share a numerator and split on the denominator. Visibility asks "how many of the answers name you at all?" Share of voice asks "of every brand the AI names, what fraction is you?" The difference is small on the page and large in practice.
Visibility
The percentage of tracked answers that name your brand at least once. Counts answers, not mentions. A wordy answer that names you three times still contributes one to the numerator. See the methodology .
Share of voice
The percentage of every tracked brand mention that is yours. Counts mentions, not answers. Pulls a wordy mention pattern into the numerator and into the denominator alongside every rival.
High visibility, low share of voice. You show up everywhere, but rivals are named alongside you twice as often. That is a discovery problem solved and a positioning problem opened in its place.
Low visibility, high share of voice. You only appear in a narrow slice of answers, but when you do, you own the conversation. This is typically the signature of a niche specialist.
A shared numerator. Both metrics count brand mentions Pineprompt extracted from the AI answer. The split is in the denominator, where visibility looks at answers and share of voice looks at every brand mention.
Why track it
Visibility says you exist. This says you win.
Visibility tells you whether the AI knows you exist. Share of voice tells you how much of the category conversation is yours. It is the metric that turns "we are mentioned" into "we are the answer," and the one a category leader watches every week.
Watch competitive movement
Share of voice trends compress competitor pressure into a single line. A rival's GEO push shows up as your line bending down before any other metric notices.
Quantify GEO investment
Every reusable lift you publish should move the number. Before-and-after share of voice is the cleanest way to put a value on generative engine optimization spend.
Spot category gaps
A zero on a slice of prompts you should own is a content brief in disguise. Filter share of voice down to the slice, see who is winning it, then trace the citations they earned.
Segmented
Three ways to slice the score.
One number across the whole prompt set is a starting point. The decisions live in the slices. Pineprompt segments share of voice three ways, so you see exactly which fight you are losing and exactly who is winning it.
Head to head
Pair your brand against a named rival, see the share-of-voice delta, and watch it move week over week. The shape every sales deck and exec report wants.
Country by country
AI answers shift by locale. The same brand can lead in one market and trail in another, so Pineprompt scores each country in your tracked set separately.
Prompt by prompt
You own the head prompts and vanish on the long tail. Prompt tracking ties each share-of-voice slice back to the buyer question that produced it.
Share of voice FAQ
What people ask before they start tracking share of voice across the eight engines. For the underlying definition and a worked formula, see the share of voice in AI glossary entry.
- How is share of voice computed?
- For every tracked brand in scope, Pineprompt divides that brand's total mentions across the window by the total mentions of every tracked brand in the same window. Percentages across the tracked set sum to 100. A wordy answer that names a brand three times contributes three to that brand's numerator, so heavy coverage carries weight without distorting the denominator.
- How is share of voice different from visibility?
- Visibility counts answers: the percentage of tracked answers that name your brand at least once. Share of voice counts mentions: the percentage of every tracked brand mention that is you. Same numerator class, different denominator, very different stories.
- Is share of voice the same across engines?
- No. Each engine draws on different sources and framing, so the number varies sharply. Pineprompt segments share of voice by engine, so you see where you are strong and where you are not.
- How often is the score recomputed?
- Every monitor refreshes daily on every plan. Share of voice updates as new runs land. See the methodology.
- Can I export share of voice into my own dashboard?
- Yes. CSV export is available on paid plans, and the same numbers are exposed through the public API for AI agents and your own dashboards.
