Best AthenaHQ alternatives in 2026
AthenaHQ meters usage in credits and keeps its API and daily refresh on Enterprise. If that is not your shape, here are seven other AI visibility tools.
AthenaHQ is a capable AI visibility platform. It tracks eight platforms on its Self-Serve plan, ships native connectors for GA4, Search Console, Shopify, Webflow and Framer, and adds an agentic copilot and a citation-probability model. If you want those things out of the box, it deserves a look.
What makes some buyers hesitate is how it is packaged. Usage is metered in credits, and some of the features teams ask for sit on the Enterprise tier. This guide lists seven other tools and who each one suits. The facts come from our own compare pages, which we checked against each vendor's public pages. Vendors change things, so confirm details before you buy.
Why people look for AthenaHQ alternatives
The reasons we hear most:
- Credit metering. One credit is one response, so cost scales with prompts times platforms times cadence. That is hard to forecast before you start.
- API on Enterprise. The API is offered at the Enterprise tier, so a Self-Serve customer who wants a custom pipeline has to move up first.
- Daily refresh on Enterprise. Daily monitoring is reserved for Enterprise. Below that, cadence depends on your credit budget and runs slower.
- Single country. Multi-region tracking is also an Enterprise feature.
None of this is a flaw if you value the native connectors and the copilot. The Pineprompt vs AthenaHQ comparison sets the two out side by side. Both track the same eight platforms.
1. Pineprompt
Pineprompt is a self-serve AI visibility tracker with a narrow job: show how AI assistants talk about your brand and hand you the data. It tracks all eight engines on every plan, with no per-platform add-ons, and every prompt runs daily. Each answer is scored on five signals: mentions, sentiment, citations, competitor discovery and share of voice. The refresh rate, source capture and known limits are written on the methodology page.
The MCP server is on every plan, so an AI agent can query your visibility data directly. The REST API and the Looker Studio connector come with the Professional and Business plans. Country and language are set per monitor, and plans allow 50 to 350 tracked prompts.
Fits: teams that want to sign up and start the same day, want every engine from the entry plan, and want their numbers in their own tools.
Limits: Pineprompt is a monitoring tool. It has no site audits, content writing or optimization features, and there is no free trial. If you need Meta AI or DeepSeek, look elsewhere. See the pricing page for plan details.
2. Peec.ai
Peec starts from a three-platform base plan and sells more platforms as paid add-ons, billed per platform. Claude is one of those add-ons. Refresh is daily on all paid tiers. It has an MCP server and a Customer API, and country and language scoping covers one to three regions depending on tier.
Fits: large teams and agencies that want unlimited seats and an established partner ecosystem, and that are happy adding platforms one at a time.
Engines: three on the base plan, more as add-ons. Read the Pineprompt vs Peec.ai comparison.
3. Promptwatch
Promptwatch bundles AI tracking with crawler logs, visitor analytics and an article generator. It lists nine platforms, including DeepSeek. The API, MCP server and Looker Studio connector are available. Daily refresh is stated on the Essential plan; above that it says "real-time" without further detail, and its methodology is not published.
Fits: teams that want one subscription covering tracking, AI crawler activity, AI-referred visitors and content.
Engines: nine. See Pineprompt vs Promptwatch.
4. Scrunch
Scrunch combines monitoring with site audits, page optimizations, AI agent traffic analysis and agent-optimized pages. The Core plan lists four engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with 125 tracked prompts. Claude, Gemini, Grok and AI Mode are listed on the custom-priced Enterprise plan, along with Looker Studio, API and MCP access. Core has a 7-day free trial.
Fits: teams that want to act on findings inside the same product, not only measure them.
Engines: four on Core, more on Enterprise. See Pineprompt vs Scrunch.
5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
The toolkit sits inside Semrush, the broader SEO suite. Semrush's documentation names Google AI Mode and ChatGPT, and the pages we checked do not list every engine. The toolkit tracks 25 prompts, and Semrush One lists 50, 100 or 200. Prompt tracking is daily, with country targeting across 220+ countries and territories. It includes an AI Search Site Audit, reporting and CSV exports, and Semrush states there is no free trial for it.
Fits: teams already using Semrush for SEO who want AI visibility in the same account.
Engines: not fully listed. See Pineprompt vs Semrush.
6. Goodie
Goodie is a full-stack platform covering research, monitoring, optimization and revenue measurement. Core lists five models and Pro lists eight, and Core has a 7-day free trial.
Fits: teams that want one platform from research through to revenue measurement.
Engines: five on Core, eight on Pro. See Pineprompt vs Goodie.
7. Otterly.ai
Otterly names six platforms. Gemini and Google AI Mode are paid add-ons, and it does not track Claude or Grok. Prompts refresh daily but citations refresh weekly, and there is no public API. It offers a native one-click Looker Studio connector, 50+ countries and languages, and a lighter entry tier.
Fits: teams testing a category on a smaller budget who do not need Claude or Grok.
Engines: six named. Compare in detail at Pineprompt vs Otterly.ai.
A note on reading comparison pages
Every vendor comparison, ours included, is written by someone with a stake in the result. Treat each list as a shortlist, not a verdict. Open the vendor's own pricing page, work out what your prompt list would cost under each billing model, and ask whether the API or connector you need is included or sits on a higher tier. Run the same ten prompts in two tools for a week if you can; differences in coverage and freshness show up quickly, and they matter more than any feature table.
How to choose
Start with the engines. List the assistants your customers actually use and confirm each is covered on the plan you would really buy, not only on the top tier. Several tools above cover fewer engines on entry plans or sell the rest as add-ons.
Next, look at how usage is billed. Some tools charge per platform, some meter credits, and some set a fixed prompt count. The last kind is the easiest to forecast, because you know what a month costs before you start.
Then decide between measuring and acting. A focused tracker is simpler. A suite with audits and content tools can replace a second subscription if your team will use those features.
Finally, check data access. If you want numbers in a warehouse, a dashboard or an AI agent, confirm which plan includes the API and whether it matches what the dashboard shows. On Pineprompt the MCP server is on every plan, and the API and Looker Studio connector are on Professional and Business.
Where Pineprompt fits
Pineprompt is the right call when you want a plan-shaped tracker: no credits to budget, every engine and a daily refresh on every plan, and an MCP server on every plan. The API and Looker Studio connector arrive with Professional and Business. It is the wrong call if you want native GA4 or Shopify connectors, a copilot, a free trial or content tools. Check the pricing page to see what you would pay.
