Key metrics
Every metric in Pineprompt is derived from the same raw material: the responses your monitors collect and the brand mentions found inside them. This section documents each metric precisely, including how it is computed, so you may reconcile any number on your dashboard back to the underlying answers.
The five metrics
- Visibility
- The percentage of responses that mention your brand at all. This is the headline metric: it answers whether you appear. See visibility.
- Share of voice
- Your brand's portion of all mentions of tracked brands. It answers how much of the conversation you own relative to your competitors. See share of voice.
- Sentiment
- How favorably the platforms describe your brand when they mention it, on a scale from 0 to 100 where 50 is neutral. See sentiment.
- Position
- How early your brand appears in an answer, on average, where 1 means it is named first. See position.
- Citations
- Which URLs and domains the platforms cite in their answers, and how often. See citations.
How the metrics relate
The metrics form a natural sequence of questions. Visibility asks whether you appear in the answer. Share of voice asks how much of the answer belongs to you rather than to a competitor. Position asks where in the answer you appear, and sentiment asks how you are framed once you do. Citations sit underneath all four: they identify the pages the platforms drew on, which is where you may actually intervene.
Because the first four are computed from brand mentions, they are only as accurate as your brand configuration. If a metric looks wrong, you should check your brand's aliases before anything else.
Metrics and the filter bar
Every metric respects the active filter. When you narrow the dashboard to a date range, a platform, a country, a monitor, a tag, or a segment, each metric is recomputed over exactly the responses that match. So a visibility of 40% under a "comparison prompts" tag filter means your brand appears in 40% of the answers to those prompts, over the selected period. See filtering for the full set of axes.
