Project setup

Tags

A tag is a colored label you attach to prompts. Tags exist so you may slice your analytics: every chart and table in the dashboard can be filtered to the prompts carrying a given tag.

Creating tags

A tag has a name and a color. Ten colors are available: gray, red, orange, amber, green, teal, blue, indigo, violet, and pink. Tags belong to the project, and a prompt may carry any number of them.

Choosing a taxonomy

Tags are most useful when they encode a question you will actually ask of your data later. A few taxonomies come up again and again.

Question type
Category, comparison, branded, and use-case prompts each behave differently in the platforms, so separating them explains most sudden metric movements.
Funnel stage
Awareness questions versus consideration questions versus purchase-intent questions.
Product line
When one brand spans several products, a tag per product keeps their visibility apart.

Of course, you may combine taxonomies, since a prompt can carry several tags at once. However, you should resist creating a tag you will never filter by; an unused tag is only noise in the picker.

Filtering by tags

The filter bar on the project dashboard accepts one or more tags, and every metric on the page is then computed over the responses of the matching prompts only. See filtering for how tags combine with the other filter axes.

Deleting tags

Deleting a tag detaches it from every prompt that carried it. The prompts and their responses are unaffected.

Next steps

The last piece of project setup is the one that powers the metrics themselves: brands.
