Profound vs Promptwatch

Profound and Promptwatch both track brand visibility in AI answers, but they package trials, models and data access differently. Here is how to choose.

Profound and Promptwatch both measure how your brand appears in answers from AI engines. They go about it differently: Profound sells a free trial and a custom Enterprise package, while Promptwatch publishes plans with the same model coverage on each. If you are also looking at other tools, see our comparison of Otterly vs Profound.

This comparison draws on each vendor's public pricing page as we read it on 26 October 2026, plus our own compare pages. Vendors change their products often, so confirm details with them before you buy. We have left out competitor prices on purpose, because they change and are best read on each vendor's own pricing page.

The two tools in brief

Profound lists two options: a free Trial and a custom Enterprise package that you reach through "Get a Demo". Its platform also includes an AI Marketer that runs on credits.

Promptwatch lists Essential, Professional and Business plans, plus a custom Enterprise plan. Plans are sized by projects, prompts and responses.

Free trials

The Profound Trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. It includes 5 Prompt Volumes searches, and it lists no history, no exports and no API access.

Promptwatch offers a 7-day free trial on Essential and Professional. Business is sold through a demo.

Model coverage

Profound Enterprise lists capability for nine answer engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search.

Promptwatch says every plan can track all models. Its model list includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Llama, DeepSeek and Mistral, among others.

Data access

Profound Enterprise lists CSV and JSON exports, API access and all-time history. Prompt Volumes, which shows what users are prompting AI answer engines, has a custom number of searches on Enterprise.

Promptwatch lists MCP and API access on every plan, Essential included.

Content tools and tracking locations

Promptwatch includes content writing and refresh from the Professional plan upward. All of its plans list country-level tracking, and state and city-level tracking is added on Business.

Profound lists custom languages and regions on Enterprise, along with ChatGPT Shopping. It also offers Agent Analytics, which tracks AI-sourced traffic and attribution across your domains, and Promptwatch lists Agent Analytics from Professional.

Which to choose

Choose Profound if you want a trial to test the platform before a sales conversation, or a tailored Enterprise package with exports and long history. Choose Promptwatch if you want published plans, every model on each plan and API access from the start. If you mainly need monitoring and do not need content tools, a focused tracker may be enough.

Where Pineprompt fits

Pineprompt is a third option focused on monitoring. It tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot daily on every plan. MCP access is included on all plans, and the API and Looker Studio connection are available on Professional and Business. Pineprompt does not offer a free trial.
