Rankscale vs Otterly

Rankscale and Otterly both measure how your brand appears in answers from AI engines such as ChatGPT and Gemini. They serve similar buyers, but they are built around different pricing models, which changes how each one feels in daily use. The two tools in brief

Otterly sells Lite, Standard and Premium plans, plus a custom Enterprise plan. Each standard plan tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot daily. Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are available as paid add-ons. Otterly offers a free trial.

Rankscale sells Essentials, Pro, Pro+, Growth and Enterprise plans, plus a custom plan. Every plan lists 17 or more AI engines. Rankscale offers a free 7-day trial of the Pro plan with a limited credit allowance.

How each tool charges

The clearest difference is the unit you pay for.

Otterly plans are sized by search prompts. Lite includes 15, Standard 100 and Premium 400, and Standard and Premium can add blocks of 100 more prompts. The engines beyond the four included ones are priced separately as add-ons on each plan.

Rankscale plans are sized by monthly credits. Each time Rankscale queries an AI engine for one of your prompts, it uses a fraction of a credit, typically 0.25 credits per engine per prompt. Some engines cost more than that. On the pricing page, Claude is listed at 2 credits and DeepSeek at 1. You can schedule runs from hourly to monthly, so how often you check and how many engines you include both affect how far your credits go. Rankscale provides a credit calculator for estimating this.

In practice, Otterly is easier to forecast when you know your prompt list and want the default engines. Rankscale gives more control over frequency and engine mix, but you need to do the credit arithmetic.

Engine coverage

Otterly includes four engines on every plan and charges extra for Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini. If your buyers use those, add the cost of the add-ons when you compare.

Rankscale lists 17 or more engines on every plan, with the cost of each engine deducted from your credits rather than billed as a separate add-on. Its pricing page also lists Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot and Google AI Overviews among the engines you can select.

API, MCP and exports

Otterly includes API access and MCP access from the Standard plan upward. Standard and Premium also include a Data Studio connector.

Rankscale includes MCP access on every plan. REST API access starts on Pro+. Its comparison table lists CSV and Sheets exports and a Data Studio integration from Pro upward, but not on Essentials.

If you need to feed visibility data into your own reports, check which plan unlocks the access you want. Both vendors put the API above their entry tier.

Which should you choose

• Choose Otterly if you want a predictable plan sized by prompts, daily tracking of the four default engines, and a free trial.
• Choose Rankscale if you want to select engines and run frequency yourself, work with credits, and test the Pro plan for 7 days.
• Check the add-ons or credit costs for the engines your customers actually use before deciding. That is where the two pricing models diverge most.
